Emmet Cahill

December 21, 2017 - 8.00pm
After a successful event last year, Irish tenor Emmet Cahill will make a return appearance to the Valley Dec. 21.

Cahill, 27, is one of the lead singers of Celtic Thunder, one of the most successful international groups of all time.

Cahill will perform a combination of Irish music, Christmas carols and church hymns at 8 p.m. Dec. 21 at St. Columba Cathedral. Tickets are $55 for VIP meet and greet tickets, limited to 100 people, $45 and $35. Tickets can be purchased by calling the St. Columba rectory at 330-744-5233 or visiting www.ticketleap.com.

Colleen McNally Harris, one of the event's organizers, said she saw on Cahill's Facebook page in late 2015 that he was doing a solo tour. "His voice really stood out to me," she said.Cahill told her he was a cathedral singer and grew up singing church music, so she thought his concert would be a good fit as a fundraiser for St. Columba.

McNally Harris said she and a few other parishioners met with Cahill and his publicist during holy week in 2016 while he was performing in Pittsburgh and everything came together for the Youngstown show.

She said last year's concert was held in early December and it featured a VIP meet and greet for 100 people. However, it wasn't just a typical meet and greet where ticket holders shake hands and take photos with the artist.

"This was a meet and greet Youngstown style. We had heavy hors d'oeuvres, cookies and wine thanks to parishioner Frank Rosetti, who prepared everything. It was fantastic," McNally Harris said.

Cahill must have agreed because he has agreed to do the meet and greet again at the parish hall. "His publicity team told us the St. Columba concert and meet and greet were the most organized they had ever seen, so when we asked them to come back, they agreed without hesitation," she said.

She said people came to last year's show from as far away as Montreal, Canada, Atlanta and Memphis, as well as Pittsburgh, Cleveland and other parts of Ohio. "He's got quite a following and it says a lot about our community that he's coming back here," McNally Harris said.

The Cathedral Choir, under the direction of Dr. Daniel Laginya, will join Emmet in a few beloved songs. Please support our Choir and our concert fundraiser! Tickets are now available on www.ticketleap.com.  Contact Frank Rossetti at 330-240-4322 for more information. Meet & Greet tickets prior to the concert are still available. Christmas, sacred, traditional and popular music sung so beautifully!
